About Us

Twenty-five years of construction training. One clear focus.

Getting people into construction work across the Liverpool City Region, Cheshire, and North Wales.

Who we are.

Cornerstone Vocational Training has delivered construction trade training from our Birkenhead base continuously since 2001. We’re a specialist — six trades, one focus. From August 2026 we deliver from two Birkenhead workshops: our long-standing base on Price Street, and a second unit at Unit 6, Price Street Business Centre, Price Street, Birkenhead, Wirral CH41 4JQ, where our Solar PV training runs.

We deliver across the North West and North Wales, working with learners from Wirral, Liverpool, Cheshire, and the North Wales coast. Through 2026/27 we’ll be developing our adult offer and the route-to-work outcomes that matter most to our funders and learners — while we continue to deliver to schools five days a week, with students attending one to three days each.

Who we work with.

We deliver to five groups of people, each with a different reason for being here, with around ten learners to a group:

Unemployed adults moving into construction.
Referred to us through funded routes and partner organisations. They finish with a recognised qualification and either a route into self-employment or an introduction to a hiring employer.

Employed tradespeople upskilling.
Sent by their employers for trade upskilling. Most common: roofers learning Solar PV, plasterers learning EWI.

Self-funded learners.
Career changers, returners, and people building a second income. They pay directly and get the same hands-on training as everyone else.

School learners (Years 10 and 11).
Referred through local schools for hands-on construction experience one to three days a week. They train in our workshop, in a separate building from our adult cohorts, building real trade skills and a foundation for their post-16 options.

16–18 study programme learners.
Full-time post-16 study programmes, building trade skills and progression towards employment or apprenticeships.

Who we work with on the delivery side.

We deliver as a tier-2 or tier-3 partner alongside:

  • A long-standing CIC delivery partner
  • FE colleges across Liverpool City Region, Cheshire, and North Wales — for AEB-funded delivery as partnerships develop through 2026–27
  • Regional construction employers — for upskilling and graduate placement
